Mobile Computing is a technology that allows transmission of data via a computer without having to be connected to a fixed physical link.
Ability to send and receive data across the cellular networks is its principle.

A cellular network consists of mobile units linked together to switching equipment, which interconnect the different parts of the network and allow access to the fixed Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

About mobile switching centre:

Mobile switching centre is the heart of cellular radio systems.
It is responsible for routing, or switching, calls from the originator to the destinator .
The MSC may be connected to other MSCs on the same network or to the PSTN.
If during a call the MS moves to an adjacent cell then a change of frequency will necessarily occur . This procedure is called hand over and is the key to Mobile communications.

Data Communications is the exchange of data using existing communication networks.
It can be achieved using a variety of networks such as

These networks make use of the technologies such as circuit - switching, packet - switching e.t.c.
Circuit Switching: implies that data from one user to another has to follow a prespecified path.
Packet Switching: It is an attempt to make better utilization of the existing network by splitting the message to be sent into packets.

The ability to keep on the move is vital in order to utilise time efficiently.
Efficient utilization of resources (i.e.: staff) can be obtained through mobile computing.
Mobile computing is rapidly becoming popular, and user demand for useful wireless applications is increasing.

 Common use of smartphones, handheld
devices and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs)
have grown rapidly nowadays.
 Handheld devices have become indispensable
tools for millions of people worldwide.
The simplicity of using E-mail, retrieving web
sites, accessing memo pads and more PDA
applications allow people to incorporate it in
every day tasks.
The main use of these devices is to store as much
frequently used data as possible.
Although, the memory size in PDA has increased
tremendously compared to the initial memory size in
earlier models, the memory requirements of several
applications has also increased.
An earlier model like the PalmPilot 1000 can hold 500
addresses in its 128kb memory.
The new Tungsten/c can hold several applications like
electronic books, downloaded web pages, Word, Excel
and Windows-compatible PowerPoint in its 64MB

 Global System for Mobile Communications,
one of the leading digital cellular systems.
GSM uses narrowband TDMA, which allows
eight simultaneous calls on the same radio
GSM was first introduced in 1991. As of the
end of 1997, GSM service was available in
more than 100 countries and has become the
de facto standard in Europe and Asia.
Today's GSM platform is a hugely
successful wireless technology and
an unprecedented story of global
achievement. In less than ten
years since the first GSM network
was commercially launched, it
became the world's leading and
fastest growing mobile standard,
spanning over 200 countries.

General Packet Radio Service, a standard for
wireless communications which runs at
speeds up to 115 kilobits per second,
compared with current GSM (Global System
for Mobile Communications) systems' 9.6
GPRS, which supports a wide range of
bandwidths, is an efficient use of limited
bandwidth and is particularly suited for
sending and receiving small bursts of data,
such as e-mail and Web browsing, as well as
large volumes of data.

 Further enhancements in data capability
over the core GSM network will be
provided with the introduction of Enhanced
Data rates for GSM Evolution - known as
EDGE*. This will achieve the delivery of
advanced mobile services such as the
downloading of video and music clips, full
multimedia messaging, high-speed colour
Internet access and e-mail on the move.

3GSM* is the latest addition to the GSM
family. 3GSM* is about having third
generation mobile multimedia services
available globally. 3GSM* focuses on
visionary communications, in more ways
than one. It's about the new visual ways in
which people will communicate and the
unique vision of the GSM community,
which has always focused on the future
needs of our customers.

Information Theory

Information theory is the quantitative measure of
information defined by C.E. Shannon.
It is based on the probabilities of symbols, which leads
to the concept of symbol self-information.
The more probable a symbol is, the less bits of
information it contains.
If P(A[i]) is the probability of a symbol A[i] occurs,
then the symbol self-information (amount of
information a symbol carries in bits) .

Mobile computing is a generic term describing one's ability to use technology while moving, as opposed to portable computers, which are only practical for use while deployed in a stationary configuration.
Many types of mobile computers have been introduced since the 1990s, including the:
Wearable computer
Personal digital assistant /Enterprise digital assistant
Smart phone
Pocket PC

Limitations of mobile computing

Insufficient bandwidth
Security standards
Power consumption
Transmission Interferences
Potential Health Hazards
Human Interface with devices

Mobile computing enables immediate validation of the data
It reduces the transcription error for survey like applications
Using networking, information can be made available in near real-time
Very fast turn around time from data collection to analysis and reporting. This can translate into significant cost saving.

There are some purses and other bags that have a cell phone holder in it so that cheap smartphones for sale is protected and available for use. There are also some brief cases and computer cases that have cell phone holders within them as well as places to hold the phone chargers and other cheap cell phone accessories.

Besides the cheap cell phone accessories, there are other accessories that are not inexpensive to buy. There are batteries, headsets and other pieces of equipment that can be useful to the person using the cell phone. In addition, there are some fun sites online that allow people to change ring tones and wallpaper, just for fun.
