I am a btech final year student, i need to give a seminar and presentation on the related topic. plzzzzzz
give me more info on SED technology like seminar and presentation report, power point presentation.

A surface-conduction electron-emitter display (SED) is a flat panel color television technology currently being developed by a number of companies.MAny electron emitters which are nanoscopic-scale are used for energizing the colored phosphors and produce an image. Thus a SED contains a matrix of tiny cathode ray tubes and may of them forming red-green-blue (RGB) pixels. Its advantages include: high contrast ratios, wide viewing angles and very fast response times, and also the power and packing advantages of LCD are also there.


The SED replaces the single gun of a conventional CRT with a grid of nanoscopic emitters, one for each sub-pixel of the display. There is a surface conduction electron emitter apparatus which on excitation with high-voltage gradients make sthe electrons jump across a thin slit. Only tens of volts is required as the slit is nanoscopic size. second field, applied externally, accelerates these scattered electrons towards the screen.Each emitter is aligned behind a colored phosphor dot, and the accelerated electrons strike the dot and cause it to give off light in a fashion identical to a conventional CRT television. The selection of particular emitters is made possible by by powering a single horizontal row on the screen.n active matrix of thin-film transistors is not required here as in the case of LCDs. the emitters are rapidly turned on and off using PWM method so that the brightness at a spot on the screen can be controleld easily.

SED screens consist of two glass sheets and the the rear layer supporting the emitters and the front the phosphors. For making the front the phosphors are painted onto the screen using a variety of silkscreen or similar technologies.
